Tool 2: your own distribution

Tail Capture Analyzer

Your broker shows you dollars. Dollars hide the shape. Convert your trades to R (each result as a multiple of what you risked) and the shape appears: how much of your total came from a handful of trades, and what a fixed cap on every win would have done to you. This runs 100% in your browser. Your trades are stored only in this browser's local storage and are never sent anywhere.

Your trades as CSV

One trade per row, with this header:

symbol,entry,stop,exit,mfe
AAPL,182.40,178.10,191.20,193.05

entry, stop and exit are prices. Direction is inferred: a stop below the entry is a long trade, a stop above it is a short. mfe is optional: the most favorable price the trade reached while you were in it (the highest price for a long, the lowest for a short). Add it on at least 5 trades to unlock the capture-rate analysis. Rows that cannot be used are listed with the reason.

How to read it: if your total R excluding your top 3 trades is near zero or negative, you do not have a system with a tail problem to fix later; you have a tail-dependent system, and every early exit is a withdrawal from the only account that pays. The sample trades make the point brutally: a healthy-looking total that turns negative the moment the top 3 trades are removed.
